By Deb Schwabe

When you go on a beach vacation, it is very important to find a destination which is more than just a beach. If you have kids to entertain, you'll want some extra activities. Why not vacation in Daytona Beach Florida, which has 23 miles of beach and plenty of activities.

Although Daytona Beach is most well known for their Independence Day weekend celebrations, they enjoy a stunning year round temperate climate, which makes it possible to visit at time. All budgets are catered for in the different accommodations available. You will also find world-class golf, shopping, beaches, spas, water-sports, angling, fine dining, and even cultural activities.

Looking for something special? Daytona Beach is known for great racing. Independence Day weekend wouldn't be the same without NASCAR racing. At the World Center of Racing in Daytona Beach, you'll want to be a part of the Saturday night Sprint Cup series! This international raceway sets standards for all other raceways of its kind world-wide. If you're a race fan or not, experiencing NASCAR racing at Daytona Beach is something you should at least check out.

As far as beach and other activities go, there are loads of free attractions to offer during the summer months. These can save you a pocketful of money, particularly if you have a bunch of kids to entertain. Free is the best possible value for money you can get, and fortunately all the best US beaches offer these activities. One of the historical traditions of Daytona Beach is Angell & Phelps Chocolate. This factory has been operation since 1925, and you can tour this facility for free.

For a little bit of culture, the Art League of Daytona Beach hosts regularly changed exhibits of local and national artists. The "casements" is the historic winter home of the Rockefeller family, originally build by John D, himself. Tours are held daily on 6 days a week, and it is now the cultural center and museum of Ormond Beach.

A lot of US beaches offer music, festivals and concerts, and Daytona Beach is no different. You'll find great concerts all summer long ranging from jazz, rock, country, big band and Latin concerts from May to September. A free fireworks show is featured after the concert, and who doesn't love fireworks! Make sure you bring your beach chairs for the evening.

The North Peninsula State Recreation Area also offers free entry and this is 900 hectare of pristine natural beauty comprising two miles of coast and beaches. It is a popular place for surf fishing and sea turtle spotting. - 24585
