Buffalo Wings and Chile!

By Ian Kleine

Early on, we had the fruits of summer, peach and strawberries; but this time, let's have a look at a festival for one of the western old-time favorites: buffalo wings! In Buffalo, New York, the festival is nothing but pure consumption of these hot, spicy chicken treats.

By which according to last year's statistics, almost 27 tons of chicken wings and sauce was consumed in the festival alone. Hoping that the town would break the record this year, they are inviting you, tourists, to join in the festivities. There's an admission fee of five dollars per each adult though (what? You'd think it was free?)

And speaking of hot and spicy, get this, a festival for chile! No, not con carne, but chile itself. Welcome to the Hatch Chile Festival which is held every September 5-6 (or at least a weekend, as far as I know). This tiny town of Hatch in New Mexico is practically a miner's town for the rest of the season, but when the festival times, it reaches up to more than two to three thousand who attends.

The hot desert surrounding the area complements the cuisine, as you are expected to eat a lot of these spicy winger-dingers. If spicy isn't your kind of thing, the scenery could make it up for you. You have a lot of places to visit while your friends dig in the festival.

Well, if seafood is your main squeeze, then have a go at Rockland Maine for their annual Maine Lobster Festival, held during July 29th to August 2nd. It is a lobster-lover's heaven when its festival time, which an estimated twenty thousand pounds of lobster shelled out and eaten during these five days of shellfish, lemon butter, the sea breeze and the good people of Maine. The venue is cool (beside the water), and is one New England summer festival you shouldn't miss. Eight dollars per adult for admission. - 24585

Search Out The Movie Download Experience

By Curtis T Fisher

Previous to the 1980's the only way to see a motion picture was to go to the theater. Infrequently if it was a really pleasant motion picture they would present it on television later on but the movies were adapted to have room for the commercials and any primetime screening restrictions.

Then in the 1980's the initial videos came out and we were finally able to watch movies in the coziness of our own homes. Nonetheless, in the beginning as a rule folks did not possess their own Videotape recorder's and you had to rent out a huge piece of equipment along with your video if you wanted to watch at home. It replaced going to the theater but it wasn't any more convenient.

Times have sure changed. Now there are so many options on hand to watch movies that everyone can have any movie they want at any time that they want. That is in particular true with downloading movies. You can now download a film in the solitude of your own address any point that you wish. Pretty marvelous taking into account that only 25 years ago or so we couldn't have movies at home at all!

For a minor subscription charge you can now get unlimited and unhindered access to thousands of movies. In just the few minutes that it takes to download you can nearly immediately watch whatever movie you want. You can use your PC screen as the movie screen or you can also transfer the movie to a compact disk so you can watch it on your TV.

As you search for movie downloads you may find some websites that are offering to let you download movies for free of charge. If you think about it, you will agree that it is not really possible to offer such a beneficial service for nothing and that there must be a trap. You will be putting your computer at threat for viruses, adware and malware or even worse. There are copyright laws and legal constraints that the trustworthy sites take into consideration and if you are sensible you will stick with the sites that are doing it the official and honest way.

The single concern that often comes up is the fact that a film that you download will take up room on your hard drive. You may want to transport it to a disc so that you can erase it from your PC depending on how much space you have on your hard drive and what you use it for.

The major advantage for downloading movies is that you can always find the motion picture that you want anytime of the night or day. There is never a late fee. No more standing in line at the video stores or waiting for the movie to come in the mail. Now you can get your film almost immediately. Downloading movies is the best solution yet.

So look into it. It is convenient and easy, anytime and any movie in the privacy of your own home. This is the best solution we've had since it became feasible to watch movies at home back in the 1980's. - 24585

The Lawful Way of Making Money at a Craft Fair

By Rick Amorey

You are a person of significant talent, and you probably made creative items and then gave them as gifts or sold them to family and friends. But the time for you to really need to make solid income from your craft projects will inevitably come. When this occurs, you'll have to start joining craft shows. Before you can do that, though, you'll have to get a tax ID number.

You may be initially see the tax ID and gag at the thought of needless record keeping and lost income. But truthfully, a tax ID number is the best way to get you started in the world of craft retail. Once you have a tax ID number, in fact, you can even decide become a wholesaler - what this means is that you can unload your crafts to a store or person who will then resell them for their own income.

Getting a tax ID and being on your way to start selling at local craft shows is relatively painless. Take a short trip to your state's Department of Revenue Website and find the necessary literature and application forms. Read and reread the documents properly so you're sure if obtaining a tax ID is right for you. Once your application is complete and the tax ID has been given, you can now go to online and look for some craft shows where you can showcase your work.

Be in touch the local chamber of commerce in your area, or simply use an Internet search engine in to find out about upcoming events that include craft shows. Once you have a good list and got in touch with all the relevant people to apply for a spot, you need to spend a fair amount of effort to get organized. Here are some of my tips that may be helpful:

*Ensure that you have enough of your craft items. A lot of people will talk about "running out of stock" of an item; but the fact is, you should always go home with a few still on your person. If you sell out, it tells you that you probably could have sold more.

*Go to the show prepared with price signs; one for yourself and one for your display. You may lose a significant amount of potential customers who don't like asking you how much every single item is. So post it, but don't make it crowd the display.

*Since we're on the topic of displays, make sure you think about how you'll present your booth. A table with a tablecloth might admittedly works, but with just a few tasteful additions, you can make "okay" turn into "awesome." Add color, or buy a shelf. Above all, be unique and come up with new ways to display your crafts. - 24585

Picnic Backpack Selection Tips - For Everyone On The Go

By Patricia C Thomas

A picnic backpack can completely make or break an outdoor adventure. Whether you are taking the kids for a day of fun at the state park or want to surprise the love of your life with a romantic hike and picnic in the mountains, the experience will be more relaxing and stress free if you select the right backpack.

The first consideration when purchasing a backpack is size. Depending on who will be carrying it most of the time, you may want to select something more compact or a bit larger. Of course, you have to also consider how many items you will be hauling for this occasion before picking the size.

The sizes vary depending on the number of people who will be going on the trip, though you want to look at the overall size more than this number. There are more compact 2 person backpacks and then 4 person packs which can get quite large and bulky. Some larger sized products may even come with roller wheels.

If you are purchasing this item for a child, then consider purchasing one that was made just for children. They will be lighter weight and have features designed just for younger users. If you will be going on a lot of family outings then you may want to purchase a pack for each of your children so they can each carry their own belongings and lighten the load on you.

You also want to look at the arrangement of compartments and how your stuff will fit inside. There will be spaces for drinks and silverware as well as larger openings to pack in food and other bigger sized items. You want to think about what you will typically be packing and find something that will accommodate your needs.

There are some packs that are quite compact while still allowing you to carry along a lot of stuff. This a matter of design so make sure to look around and select one that will remain compact enough to be carried comfortably while still offering enough room to haul the amount of stuff you need to take along.

Your chances of having an enjoyable outing today and many more in the future are increased if you look at functionality more than price. You want something that is durable and that will hold up with consistent use. If you select the right size and style chances are you will enjoy your time on the go much more. - 24585

How to pack for for a family vacation in order to survive travelling with your kids.

By Jennifer Hess

A vacation is a time for laughter and relaxation for the whole family. It is a great opportunity to forget about your work and the kids school activities, and just concentrate on being with your kids.

Teaching your kids to pack their own things will make the vacation more exciting for them. It is better to assist your children when packing and ensure that they pack only what they actually need to bring along. Label each bag according to its owner. To maximize the usage of space and to pack more clothes in your backpack, tightly roll the clothes. Pack the light clothes before the heavy ones.

Pack comfortable clothes that are appropriate to the weather of the place that you are going to. Be sure to have your sun hats, sunglasses and sun cream lotion. Don't forget to pack one jacket and long pants for each member of the family for them to wear in a cold night.

Bring plenty of games to keep the children busy during travel time. Choose games that are interactive so that there will be interaction in the family. Bring toys that can hold the attention of the younger children.

Prepare some snacks and refreshments that you will be eating during the trip. Pack some diapers and baby wipes for your baby. Ask the family what they want to eat during the trip so you can prepare it before you go. This will save you some cash.

When planning for your vacation, don't forget to prepare a first aid kit and a flashlight in case you will need to find something during the night. Its a good idea to buy extra batteries - it is better to have an extra pack rather than be sorry. Don't forget any medicine needed on a daily basis.

Make sure your camera is prepared and your batteries are charged. Consider buying a water proof camera if you will be going swimming. With pictures, you will be able to remember all the precious moments, including those that took place in the water.

A thorough planning will make your vacation worry-free. Before leaving for the much awaited vacation, settle all your bills and take care of any other obligations you might have. The better you prepare for your vacation, the more you will enjoy it. - 24585

A Mild Drift and the Dangers Involved

By Will Kerfoot

Drift diving can be an exhilarating experience and in many cases it may be the only way to explore certain dive sites. It requires rigorous planning, specialist equipment (such as emergency dive flags) and strict adherence to the dive plan if it is to be conducted safely. Though many divers are aware of this there is a tendency amongst divers and dive operators to downgrade the mild drift dive and forgo much of the planning and safety aspects that are required. In many cases it is during the mild drift that, when things go wrong they do so spectacularly and result in newspaper headlines such as Five divers missing in Komodo National Park near Bali, No hope for 3 missing divers " Red Sea. Almost without exception those involved have not been carrying signal flags and were lost on the surface after a successful dive.

A mild drift dive usually consists, as its name would suggest, of divers drifting with a mild underwater current. They require little effort on the divers part and can easily lull participants into a false sense of security. In many cases it is surface wind that creates the mild current underwater but on the surface the current can be much faster flowing. Without appropriate emergency signaling devices such a folding dive flags divers can find themselves drifting away from boats and other divers at an alarming rate.

There are some amazing locations in the Red Sea that I have dived where a mild drift has often caught me out with the fast flow of the surface currents. A good surface cover and having a scuba flag that ensured my customers and I were quickly spotted by the RIB and picked up. No matter what any diver tells you being caught in a drift and slipping away from a small RIB is a worrying experience no matter what level of diving you are at.

Changing weather conditions and the lack of care and attention that some boat operators is often the issue. Making sure that you are covered by having the appropriate scuba equipment in the likes of a signaling device like a dive flag which is visible in deteriorating conditions and easy to carry and operate. There are few on the market that are easy to use and lightweight so even a tired diver can use it to get attention quickly.

In the past many experienced divers made their own emergency dive flags but they tended to be a rather awkward addition to the kit that was needed (most of us strapped them to our tanks) and they were not always the easiest things to deploy quickly. Fortunately this market niche has been filled by a collapsible dive flag that thought it can extend to over 1.5 meters in length will also fold down to such a small size that it will fit in a BC pocket. With a high visibility yellow flag it is a perfect and vital piece of kit that all divers should carry. - 24585

The History of Official Soccer Balls

By Gabriel Barkeley

Take the time to read the following article, surely you will benefit from the research that been conducted in order for it to be written.

Although normally called soccer, another less popular name for the sport is football, a concept that renders the full specificity of the game. Before the modern invention of the official soccer ball, the early history of the game mentions all sorts of improvised balls made of human heads, skulls, bladders and wrapped up cloths. In the Middle Ages, inflated animal bladders were the most frequently used balls, and gradually they started being covered in leather. Charles Goodyear patented vulcanized rubber in 1836 and became the father of the first official soccer ball in 1855. Then, inflatable bladders started being produced in 1862, after H.J. Lindon invented them.

It was only with Charles Goodyear who, in 1836 patented vulcanized rubber and in 1855 designed and created the first vulcanized rubber balls, that we can say we are getting closer to the shape of the official soccer ball of the modern times. Then, in 1862, H. J. Lindon developed one of the first inflatable bladders for balls and he is also known to have invented the rugby ball, although he did never patent it. When talking of the official soccer ball, you have to think of the soccer ball from the temporal perspective. There have been more than just one official soccer ball models used, at least in the 20th century and up to the present. Another aspect regarding the official soccer balls used in time is that of the manufacturing companies that have been entrusted to produce these items. Thus we will have in mind firms like Adidas, Nike, Brine or Puma that design soccer balls according to the rules and regulations established by the international football organisms and associations (FIFA).

One official soccer ball was the Telstar (Star of Television) used in Mexico in 1970. Although they had started producing soccer balls just some seven years before, Adidas was accredited to design the official soccer ball for the FIFA World Cup of 1970. It was for the first time that the black and white 32 panel pattern was used to allow for a better visibility on black and white TV sets. Two Adidas soccer balls were afterwards launched in Germany, in 1974. Telstar was reissued but this time the gold branding was replaced by a black one. Then Adidas produced the official soccer ball in an all-black version which was named Adidas Chile, after an all-white ball previously tested in Chile in 1962. The materials and techniques from these first models were afterwards preserved in the 1970 releases.

Among the other balls that got the official soccer ball status there are: Tango Durlast 1978 with lots of elegance, passion and dynamism, Tango Espana, 1982 made real leather, Azteca, Mexico 1986, the first polyurethane rain resistant coated ball, Etrvsco Unico, Italy, or in 1990 the first ball with an internal layer of black polyurethane foam, etc.

What is the History Behind the Winter Olympic Games?

By A. Nutt

The Nordic Games were the first iteration of winter Olympic games. Viktor Gustaf Balck first organized the Nordic Games in Sweden in 1901. This international mult-sport event that was designated specifically for winter sports was thereafter held regularly until 1926. In the meantime, Balck was rallying to have winter sports (starting with figure skating) included in the Olympic sport roster. He was unsuccessful until 1908, when four figure skating events were included in the 1908 Summer Olympics in London.

When planning the next summer Olympics (to be held in 1912), an Italian count named Eugenio Brunetto dUsseaux beseeched the International Olympic Committee to plan a week of winter sports as part of the 1912 games. The idea was not welcomed warmly, for a couple different reasons. First, the committee did not want to detract from the Nordic Games. Second, the committee was concerned about the lack of facilities for other winter sports.

More ground was gained in 1916, when the idea to include a week of winter sports was again proposed. The committee went as far as to plan the week of winter sports including figure skating, speed skating, ice hockey and Nordic skiing. Unfortunately, the 1916 games in Berlin were cancelled due to World War I.

Figure skating and ice hockey were featured in the first Olympic games after the war, held in Antwerp in 1920. Shortly thereafter the International Olympic Committee decided that the organizers of the next Olympics (to be held in 1924) would also host an International Winter Sports Week. The first Winter Sports Week took place in Chamonix in 1924 and actually lasted 11 days. The event was a huge success, drawing more than 200 athletes from 16 competing nations. In the first Winter Sports Week, women only competed in figure skating events.

In 1925, the International Olympic Committee created a separate event designated for these types of sports. The event was called the Olympic Winter Games, and at the same time, the 1924 Winter Sports Week in Chamonix was retroactively designated as the official first Winter Olympics. The second Olympic Winter Games were held in St. Moritz in February of 1928. The next Winter Olympic Games were held in North America for the first time. The location of the event was Lake Placid, New York. The turnout at the 1932 Winter Olympics was not impressive, however, partly due to the financial stress of the Great Depression. 1936 was the last year in which both summer and winter Olympics were held in the same country. Both the 1940 and the 1944 Winter Olympics were cancelled as a result of World War II. The 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina dAmpezzo, Italy were the first to be televised.

The next Winter Olympics Games scheduled are to take place in 2010 in Vancouver, B.C. Below is a list of scheduled medal events:

- Alpine skiing - Biathlon - Bobsled - Cross-country skiing - Curling - Figure skating - Freestyle skiing - Ice hockey - Luge - Nordic combined - Short track speed skating - Skeleton - Ski jumping - Snowboarding - Speed skating - 24585
